Synopsis
Gods, Dragons, a mercenary with a blade and no memory of his past.... The world of Tiamhaal is alight in war. Men ruled by kings slay their opposition in the name of their God, but there are others who claim the Gods are little more than scorned Dragons of ages past. Scar has come to find the truth, but is the truth an absolute certainty, or is it just the skewed memory of a forgotten kingdom?

Review
Scar is the perfect warrior and general without ever knowing why. He hopes if he wins enough battles, he will win back his memory.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Scar is a hulking white giant of a man, but he has grace and skill with a sword. He knows nothing about where he came from, only that he can outmatch any fighter, and heal from any wound.
There is enough conflict in the world, that his services can be bought, in exchange for the truth of his origins.

I'm easily sold any promise of dragons and fantasy battles, but I did not get on with this style of writing.
The way that things were stated, and the blockheaded reactions of some of the characters, was all reminiscent of a bunch of boys on stage for the first time, playing war with fake swords.
It was just cringey everytime someone tried to oppose Scar, and made an announcement to that effect.

Scar himself was... bland, but that's to be somewhat expected when your main character has amnesia. My main problem was that he was a Gary Stu: he was the best fighter, the best general, all the guys wanted to be him; without being particularly bright, he was never wrong.

Don't get me started on the female characters.
Regardless of their 'role', their main job is sexing. Because that's all women are good for.
I thought the Fantasy genre was finally moving away from this.
