Synopsis
Johan Rogers is a sharp shooting family lawyer who is close to burn out. This is affecting his ability with the Magiks and his once reliable skill as a medium. On a whim, he’s come south to Edi’s shop, Crystal Sands, for a break over the Summer Solstice. He’s looking for fun, nothing serious, and definitely no commitment. That is how things start with the stunning Nova. But then a side of him he’s repressed to be a lawyer begins to emerge. Can he get a handle on his emotions, or will Nova help him to realise his full potential with the Magiks?

Nova is struggling to find her unique skill with the Magiks. She’s been repressed too long and despite Edi’s help her ability is erratic at best. It’s been nearly a month of trying and she’s made minimal progress. Frustrated, she sees Johan as the perfect distraction. It was meant to be just a summer love affair. But things are developing into something more lasting. Will a hot love affair prevent Nova from discovering her Magik ability, or help her?

Johan is just looking for a break from his demanding job, and perhaps have a summer fling. When he meets repressed witch Nova, things start to change.

This is the second part of the Pagan Pleasures series. It can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading Beltane Bliss first.

This follows Johan, a city lawyer who has been so focussed on work, he has been shunning his connection to Magik.
At the insistence of everybody who cares about him, and is worried that he will work himself to death, Johan takes a holiday. Not knowing where to go, or what to do, he heads to visit his old friend Edi, who seems to be happy with her new small-town life.
Whilst there, he quickly bumps into Nova, another witch who has been shunning her magik for so long, it's now blocked.

This is a fun and sexy read, as Johan and Nova throw caution to the wind and revel in their connection. It's rare that you have a book where the characters don't deny their attraction, and it was fun to follow them get closer to the inevitable.

This was much quicker than the first book.
We know quite a bit about Johan, but nothing about Nova. In Solstice Sizzle, I don't think it says once what her job is, or who her friends are (apart from Edi). The focus is purely on all aspects of Johan, and Nova's troubled relationship with her mother.
The story wraps up very quickly, too. I thought the "resolution" with Nova's mother was brushed aside, and there was no real climax. It felt like it was just filling in, ready for the next part of the series.

Overall, this was a 3.5 out of 5 for me. I enjoyed it, and I will be continuing with this magik series.
