Synopsis
Things aren’t looking great for Cass Clereaux. For one, her greatest fear has come true. She’s stuck in the Prison for Magical Miscreants while her nemesis, Victor Orriodor, is out in the world, putting the last pieces of his plan into place. He’s wreaking havoc, all while she’s stuck in a stone box, awaiting likely execution.

Fortunately, Cass has just discovered that she’s the most powerful Magica in the world. She may have no control over her massive new power, but that won’t stop her from using it to break out of the world’s strongest supernatural prison. As for how she’s going to stop Victor when she gets out? She has no idea.

To have any hope at success, Cass will have to learn to control her magic and figure out exactly what he’s trying to accomplish. She’s going to need all the help she can get if she wants to survive, much less save the world. Luckily for her, she’s got Aidan Merrick and her sisters at her back, along with her allies in the League of FireSouls.

Review
The time has come for Cass and her deirfiur to confront the monster that has hunted them since they were kids; and try to stop Victor's master plan.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Having read the rest of the series, I've followed Cass as she finds out the truth of her forgotten history; the unexplained powers her sisters possess; and a growing connection with Aidan. So I was very excited to get to her finale.
The story starts with Cass being stuck in jail, from the end of the last book. It then follows the tried and tested plotline, of finding a powerful hidden artefact before the bad guys get there. It's kinda like Lara Croft or Indiana Jones, trying not to trip the ancient traps.

We get to revisit a lot of the characters that have featured throughout the series, with the Scottish shifters, the League of Firesouls, and the dragonettes.
I really liked how the series started, focusing on just the three sisters; but the core group has naturally grown to include Aidan, Claire, Connor, Mordaca, Aerdaca etc. It was fantastic to see them all in action.

The book really steps up a gear with the climax.
That was awesome. I was shell-shocked by what happened! I sat there wondering how Hall could do that to us!
As much as I really really want to share, I'm not saying anything else to spoil it.

The Huntress series has finished, but the Dragon Gift books will continue with The Seeker series (but don't read them until you've finished this - there are spoilers in the first Seeker book, including a MAJOR one).
